Beer and Wine Production

Membrane Filtration for Beer & Wine

Ceramic crossflow filtration with micro- or ultrafiltration membranes ensures the highest product quality.

Inopor® ceramic membranes save water, energy and enable an efficient automated process.

Beer filtration

Investment for cost reduction

In beer production, clarification filtration with ceramic membranes, in contrast to depth filtration, operates without the use of diatomaceous earth. This reduces procurement and disposal costs. Beer losses due to pre-run and post-run can also be significantly reduced.

Due to the long service life of inopor® membranes and their ease of maintenance, the operating costs are comparable to or lower than polymer membranes. Due to their inert properties no loss of flavour is expected when using inopor® ceramic membranes.  Inopor® membranes are steam-sterilisable and chemically resistant.

Further applications in brewing technology can include:

  • Increasing beer yield through various membrane processes in beer and brewing technology

  • Yeast recovery

  • Optimisation of wastewater processes

  • CIP - cleaning agent recovery (alkalis and acids)

Applications

Who benefits and how?

Our technology is scalable by system manufacturers and therefore suitable for both smaller and larger breweries that:

  • prefer a resource-efficient, customer-specific filtration process

  • produce their product range in a wide variety of different quantities

  • offer a large product assortment with many different types of beer

Wine filtration

offers new horizons

Clarification filtration in wine production or wine processing is often carried out similarly to beer production with the aid of additives (so-called fining) to remove excess solids and turbidity from the pressing and fermentation process.

By means of filtration with inopor® membrane filters, we can filter out even these smallest particles, as well as yeast residues. The filtration can be precisely tailored via the adjustable pore size of the membranes. It operates without the use of additives that can permanently alter the wine and must be disposed of.

Wines that are filtered through ceramic membrane filters do not come into contact with animal products and can therefore be labeled as vegan.

Areas of application

Who is it for and what is it suitable for?

Our technology is scalable thanks to the plant manufacturers, which means that our inopor® membranes can be used by large wine producers as well as small to medium-sized and highly specialised winemakers.

Inopor membranes are suitable for fully automated filtration processes, including preprogrammed backwashing and cleaning processes.
